About Me
Donald L. Holladay, Pharm.D.

Holladay Consulting was created to provide emergent support services for Epic clients facing a critical go-live event or have a desire to improve upon and optimize their current data.

A pharmacist by training, I received my PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy) from Midwestern University – College of Pharmacy in 2005.

Currently, I am responsible for the Pharmacy Informatics group within the Maricopa Integrated Health System (MIHS), Maricopa County’s healthcare safety net comprised of over 740 licensed beds for pediatrics, burn, trauma, obstetrics, and psychiatry, and 11 community-oriented family health centers providing primary and specialty care.  Our Informatics group maintains the medication, prescribing, and oncology-related content within MIHS’ Epic system.

Prior to beginning our Epic implementation process I supervised the Inpatient Pharmacy Services for MIHS. Previous to that I managed Pharmacy Services and supported the Cerner Millenium product for Banner Boswell Hospital in Sun City, AZ.

Serving as an Adjunct Professor of Pharmacy Practice for Midwestern University, we are also able to host Pharm.D. students for both Advanced Practice Management and Information Technology rotations.

With almost 10 years’ experience in clinical systems management and pharmacy operations, my expertise includes three years of Cerner Millenium PharmNet application support and three years of Epic lifecycle and go-live experience with full design and implementation. Using that expertise, I can apply clinical and operational practices in improving upon and development of workflows to align with Epic build.

What Can I Do For Your Organization?

As a result of the HITECH Act and Epic’s remarkable success in gaining market share through the attrition of new clients, the opportunities to consult are plentiful and very tempting with regards to their compensatory reward.  However, I am certainly content with opportunities afforded at MIHS and intent on remaining in this role for some time to come.

Which begs the question, “So what can you do for us?

My services would likely be best suited for an organization that:

  • Suffered a significant loss in resources due to turnover,
  • Has an emergent go-live deadline planned with outstanding build deficiencies,
  • In need of long-term maintenance for a remote facility, or
  • A health system that has completed a successful go-live with Model or basic customization seeking to optimize their medication, protocol or order set build with an uncompromising degree of clinical accuracy and efficiency.

Most, if not all, build, maintenance and optimization can be completed offsite and significantly under budget than traditional on-site consulting.

Direct costs savings are immediate: as a client, there would be no need to subsidize weekly travel, lodging or per diem costs and at a rate that is highly competitive compared to that of other consulting services. Indirect cost savings are observed by eliminating duplicative build and reconstructions effort with the assurance that deliverables are clinically precise and integrate smoothly with other elements of your Epic build.

Only one client will be accepted at a time to maintain the accuracy and efficiency you deserve and that I pride myself upon – Holladay Consulting is a dedicated resource for your needs. While consideration is given to the immediate, tactical nature of your project, my service is also responsive to long-term needs to share build across multiple facilities and locations.

Upon initiation, I am available to be onsite to complete any requisite items for hire, meet with the leadership and build teams, and complete a need-analysis to fully understand actual performance and determine next steps to attain desired performance.  Thereafter, project and maintenance is performed remotely from Scottsdale, AZ in a dedicated, State Board of Pharmacy approved, HIPAA-compliant office.

Throughout a given business day, I can accommodate my schedule to participate in teleconference meetings and ‘touch-base’ sessions to assure that build requirements are addressed to your project’s satisfaction.

Additionally, an on-site presence is available for go-live participation and support.
